Shockwave Therapy

What can it help?
Evidence indicates:
Improved post-operative recovery
Persistent Tendon Injuries
Repetitive strain and overuse injuries
Old injuries that never fully recovered
Why Shockwave?
Helping the body restart the healing process
Focused Shockwave Therapy is designed for injuries and painful conditions that haven't settled as expected. This may include ongoing tendon pain, overuse injuries, heel pain, tennis elbow, shoulder pain and other problems that continue to flare up despite time, exercise or previous treatment.
Rather than focusing solely on temporary symptom relief, Focused Shockwave Therapy delivers targeted acoustic energy to the injured area. This helps stimulate the body's natural healing processes, encouraging damaged tendons and other soft tissues to continue their natural healing and adaptation. For many persistent injuries, it provides another treatment option when recovery has stalled.
Focused Shockwave Therapy is often used alongside rehabilitation programmes such as physiotherapy and exercise-based treatment. It does not replace rehabilitation, but can provide an additional treatment option for selected patients whose symptoms continue despite appropriate rehabilitation.
Our goal isn't simply to treat today's symptoms - it's to help you understand the current state of your injury and ensure you're on the most appropriate treatment pathway.
A treatment between rehabilitation and surgery
Many people don't need surgery—but they also don't want to simply accept that an old injury is "just how it is."
It is common for an injury to improve enough to return to work or sport, while still causing ongoing pain, stiffness or recurring flare-ups that never completely settle.
Focused Shockwave Therapy offers another non-surgical treatment option by delivering targeted acoustic energy into the deeper muscles, tendons and soft tissues involved in your condition. By stimulating the body's natural healing processes, it may help reduce pain, improve function and support continued recovery where progress has slowed or stalled.
Treatment guided by orthopaedic expertise with STRIDE
Focused Shockwave Therapy at STRIDE is more than simply receiving a treatment session.
Each appointment includes an orthopaedic assessment, allowing your clinician to review your symptoms, examine the affected area and provide treatment during the same consultation. As part of that assessment, we can identify whether your condition appears consistent with the problem you've been managing or whether it may have changed over time.
If your assessment suggests that further investigation or another treatment approach may be beneficial, we'll discuss this with you. Because STRIDE provides the full spectrum of orthopaedic care—from rehabilitation advice and Focused Shockwave Therapy through to imaging, injection therapy and specialist surgical assessment—our recommendations are based on what is most appropriate for your condition.
One of the greatest benefits is peace of mind and clarity. Whether your symptoms are continuing as expected or your condition may benefit from a different approach, you'll leave with a clearer understanding of where your injury stands today and what your options are moving forward.
