Joint Preservation Surgery
Hip preservation surgery is used for hip deformities that are congenital (what we’re born with), developmental (what happens as we grow) or acquired (what happens as we age). The aim is to prolong the lifespan of the hip and prevent progression of arthritic changes to the joint, which might lead to an early hip replacement if left untreated. The specific type of joint preservation surgery is dependent on what is causing the hip pain and may involve key hole surgery, surgical dislocation and periacetabular or pelvic osteotomy.
