STRIDE orthopaedics was established in 2020 by Ramez Ailabouni (orthopaedic surgeon) and Amelia Howard-Hill (acute care nurse practitioner).  The founders were motivated to establish a private integrated orthopaedic health service that utilises a nurse-led team based approach, innovative care delivery, and cutting edge technologies. The emphasis is on providing care that is both efficient and of the highest quality.

Although born elsewhere, the founders consider themselves to be Cantabrians and are passionate about Christchurch and all the city and region offers.  The founders are socially minded and intend to positively contribute to region’s health and quality of life through timely access to quality healthcare to relieve the discomfort and negative impact that orthopaedic conditions cause. STRIDE Orthopaedics is a private integrated orthopaedic service, providing care to insured, self-funding, ACC, & contract patients.

Our Mission:
STRIDE Orthopaedics mission is to deliver a unique private & integrated orthopaedic service for the people of Canterbury and beyond. We are dedicated to redefining private orthopaedic services in Christchurch. We aim to exceed patient expectations. Integral to this objective is the wise use of technology and a striving for excellence through the monitoring of outcomes. We focus on employing the highest calibre of staff and we commit to providing sustainable health services that operate in a socially responsible way with long-term organisational viability.

Our Vision:
Our vision at STRIDE Orthopaedics is to be the first choice in Christchurch for private orthopaedic care. Ours is a culture of empathy, excellence and innovation. STRIDE Orthopaedics will work diligently to be recognised as an optimal place to receive orthopaedic care. Our commitment is to our patients, our employees, and the wider community.

Our Values:
We value being patient-centred, innovative, collaborative and equitable. We will demonstrate this through being:

Patient centred: We will provide care in a way that is empathetic to patient conditions and experiences. We will be responsive to individual needs. Knowledge and understanding are essential to optimal outcomes, therefore we will ensure our patients are provided with high quality education about their condition and treatment options.

Collaborative: We will work together as effective team members to provide the highest quality of care. We will act with integrity and accountability to ensure professional standards are maintained and mutual trust and respect are fostered. We will also collaborate effectively with general practitioners, physiotherapists and other service providers to ensure our patients get the possible care.

Innovative: We will work towards finding innovative ways to improve patient care and system efficiency. This will include using advanced technology to perform precision surgery. We will also be ambitious in our focus and expectations, and adaptable in our approach to problems. Our philosophy is to always be ethical and transparent in our management of change.

Addressing Health Inequality: STRIDE Orthopaedics will also look for opportunities to address the health inequalities faced by the people of our region. Two such areas are inequitable access to orthopaedic care in remote areas and certain patient groups experiencing poorer health outcomes that others. As we grow we will focus on creative solutions for patients in these groups.

Our Model:
To deliver an optimal and integrated orthopaedic model for our patients, care will be provided by a group of specialist health professionals. Our team will work closely together to best meet our patient's needs. Our lead nurse practitioner will ensure the service runs smoothly, thus allowing the surgeons to concentrate on the highly skilled & complex role of planning and delivering precision cutting edge surgery. The deployment of surgery is just one possible solution for the alleviation of pain and the optimisation of function. Our team will work with you and your General Practitioner as well as with other professionals such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, pain specialists, and others. The objective is always to deliver the best possible result.
